  1. To whom it may concern:
We had the pleasure of having Mr. Serku Sherpa as our guide this past fall on a
lengthy trek we did in the Everest region. We had pre-arranged our trip through a
certain company which would include our guide, but had no idea until we arrived in
Kathmandu whom that would be or how suitable he might be to our needs. We then
met Serku upon our arrival to the companyʼs office for final trip preparations and
realized quickly he would be both capable of and dedicated to making our trek the best
possible. Over the ensuing weeks he proved himself daily and on myriad occasions to
be a truly top-notch guide and trip executor, impressing us consistently with his integrity,
earnestness and honest character, constant concern for our physical and mental wellbeing,
intelligence and wit, and creativity and flexibility in meeting our needs and desires
if issues came up or when we wanted to alter plans. Equally wonderful was his ability
and desire to communicate well, a deep and invaluable knowledge of the area and its
people, culture, and spiritual life, and a great grasp and working knowledge of
particularities of trekking in the region and how best to achieve that with satisfying,
hassle-free results. At least as importantly, his dedication to and love for his work,
clients, and homeland was constant with him - ever-present - and radiated from him so
that it was infectious with us and others. We could not have asked for more!
Tom had decided by late in the trek that he wanted to do a second, shorter trip
elsewhere in the Nepal Himalaya after the conclusion of the first (Christine had other
travel plans in Asia), and that he absolutely wanted no other guide than Serku, as the
experience and relationship had been that good. With Serkuʼs help, his extensive
understanding of the region, the trekking industry, and Tomʼs desires, a trip was planned
and done to the Langtang/Gosainkundh area. The second trek was as enjoyable,
memorable and enlightening as the first; its success was in no small part due to Serku
and all his aforementioned qualities, time and again going above and beyond to help
make it so outstanding. All things must come to pass, as this Nepal experience did, but
we three now have a friendship spanning an ocean, an embodiment of Serkuʼs adage,
“come as clients, leave as friends”.
    We know that the quality of guides in the Nepal trekking industry can vary immensely;
we could easily have ended up with someone who at best could have made our “oncein-
a-lifetime” experience less than ideal, and at worst a disaster in various ways.
Instead, good fortune was with us. From speaking with friends who had previously
visited, as well as people we met on the trail, about the guides they had, we realized
how true this was. We believe that if we could have hand-picked an ideal, premier
guide (which Tom in essence did for the second trek), we would not have chosen
differently and could not have chosen any better! We will advocate Serku and his work
    to everyone we can.
    Thank you and Namaste!
    Sincerely,
    Tom and Christine Richards

  3. hello bro.
    serku sherpa
Last week I was in the Nepali-Restaurant in Vienna and it was so nice! They really cook quite similar like in Nepal (especially the Momos) - I had a Dal Bhaat, it was really good (only the curry was not so great then in Nepal) - it is a really nice place with praying flags and a buddist altar. So it was like a quick tour back in time - I only miss you :-)

I hope everything is fine with you, your friends and your family. Really a lot of people here are interested in my stories, my picture and your country. Every time I look on my pictures there is a smile on my face and I am so happy to had the possibility to see all those people and places. Thanks a lot for that great moments - without you that would not be possible!

    All my best wishes
    your brother Klaus
    Austria.
